ATB Van Nuys Sponsors NKLA Pet Adoption Event
2017-08-24
On August 13th, 2017, ATB Van Nuys participated in a kitten shower at the NKLA (No Kill Los Angeles) facility in Los Angeles. Several employees have adopted animals from the local Best Friends facility, affiliated with NKLA, and sponsors of the event.
At the event, ATB employees and family members interacted with the animals, toured the facility, learned to bottle feed kittens and got to name one!
The event was a huge success, with over 150 members of the public attending and raising awareness of the special needs of kittens.
According to their website, Best Friends opened their neonatal kitten nursery in February of 2013. In 2017, the neonatal nursery, a program of the Best Friends’ No-Kill Los Angeles initiative, has a goal of caring for over 3,000 kittens. These are kittens that come from Los Angeles Animal Services. To date, more than 9,000 precious kittens and nursing mothers have been cared for in their nursery.
Since the launch of NKLA in 2012, the number of pets being killed in L.A. city shelters has decreased by 82%.
The work done by Best Friends, for NKLA has been a tremendous success, and we at ATB are very proud to be a part of that!
